Nixon

About a week ago, a certain boy mentioned that he bought his wallet from this brand Japanese brand Nixon. This watch company also makes apparel, bags and wallets and various accessories. Their men's line is young and casual chic.

A cool fact about the company is that it sponsors famous skaters, snowboarders, surfers and artists like Tony Hawk, Paul Rodriguez, John John Florence, Dusty Payne, Cheryl Maas, and Santigold.

It's also affordable with prices ranging from around $25 for tee shirts to around $100 for jackets. The watches range from about $100 and up. In the future, I definitely intend on picking up some of their items as gifts for my favorite boys.

More from Phillip Lim Show

Below are some pictures from my colleague and friend Karen (who has a lovely blog of imaginative eye-candy you should follow called rainbowandunicorn). I'm still not over it.

Phillip Lim x Chivas Collective Shanghai Show

I had the pleasure of working backstage at the 3.1 Phillip Lim Chivas Collective show featuring his 2012 Fall Menswear collection.

The weekend was insane. I helped to do things like make the model boards, steam clothes, photoshop pictures, organize the racks, translate Chinese to the tailors and dressers,  dress the models and stand in the front row to collect the clothes of the performers.

Honestly it was the coolest, most fabulous night of my life despite how hectic it was the whole weekend. It was cool to be able witness the acute attention to detail that goes into every aspect of a runway show.

I was too nervous to introduce myself to Mr. Lim, but he was pleasant even when I asked him a stupid question with an obvious answer about where to post a picture. It was amazing to work with such a lovely and successful team.

Below are some pictures from the weekend (more to come later):

Raretruths

I was introduced to this sick awareness-raising brand when I was in Tokyo in June. The co-founders said, "Raretruths was inspired by the numerous societial issues not only in Japan, but also in areas all over the world that are supressed because of their taboo history". The best thing about Raretruths is that a portion of their sales goes to a charity that corresponds to the teeshirt line. You can find their collections on this site. Below are some of my favorites:
